Course Start Day & Registration Deadlines
Financial Aid Note
Online Courses
provide structured deadlines over specified consecutive weeks. Courses are
offered online in 7- to 8- week or for an entire term
or summer.
For online
courses, one lesson is equivalent to one week during a semester. It is recommended that those who take a
course limit their work responsibilities.
Those who plan to have full-time work should limit themselves to one
course at a time. Online courses require
students to have good time management skills and self-discipline since there is
not a specific day, time or location to meet for the
course.
Online Courses
provide opportunities to students who experience any of the following:
View online
courses and dates offered under the SOC (Schedule of Classes) menu option and
register in StudentCentral. Registration
is open in StudentCentral three months prior to when the course is offered.
Students should
be enrolled in online courses more than a week in advance so they can have
their texbooks in hand and be ready for the accelerated pace.
Undergraduate
Students
An
undergraduate student may take a maximum of nine credits in an online session.
A residential student may take only one online course per semester.
Students
on academic probation are not eligible to take online classes unless they are
enrolled in an online degree completion program. Students enrolled in an online
degree completion program are limited to taking only one online course at a
time.
Graduate
Students
A normal full-time graduate student load is 8–12 credits a
semester or at least 1 credit for doctoral students. A graduate student may
take a maximum of six credits per session (e.g., a 7- or 8-week online session)
and a maximum of 15 credits per semester.
Students with a GPA of 3.5 or above may apply to their advisor for a
waiver to take an additional course above the maximum load limit. Both the advisor and the Deans Council must
approve the waiver.
Course
Enrollment Limit/Cancellation: BJU reserves the right to limit the number of
student registered in any course,
to cancel any courses for which there is insufficient enrollment and to make
changes a needed.
