Registration & Course Delivery Overview

Fall & Spring Semester 2024-2025

Beginning August 1 (Fall Semester) or /January 1 (Spring Semester), complete applicable registration tasks (i.e., personal information) in StudentCentral under My Information/Updates.  Check-In and applicable registration tasks must be completed prior to seeing your advisor, registering for classes or accepting your preregistered class schedule to complete registration.

Reservation Status

Each student’s admission certificate has one of the following reservation statuses for assisting students with registration and Welcome Week activities:

·       New:  Students enrolling for the first time in residence at BJU.

·       Transfer:  Students enrolling for the first time in residence who previously attended a postsecondary institution full-time during a semester following high school graduation.

·       Returning:  Students previously enrolled in residence during a semester at BJU.

Registration Modes

There are three opportunities for students to register and/or make changes to their class schedule.

·       Preregistration:  Preregistration is primarily for current students continuing their enrollment in courses the following semester.  New or returning students holding a reservation for a future term may preregister during the summer/semester break prior to the start of the term they will be attending.  Course validations during preregistration are based upon current course enrollments at BJU with the assumption courses will be successfully completed and/or approved and posted transfer work.

·       Registration:  All students who preregister complete their registration by completing appropriate registration tasks (i.e., update personal information, FERPA, declare intent to graduate, etc.) and accepting their class schedule.  Course validations are made based upon prior term grades and/or summer/transfer work. Students who do not preregister, enter registration at the start of a term.

·       Drop/Add:  The drop/add period at the start of a term is primarily for those students who are incorrectly registered because of an error made during registration and for those students who must change a course or section at the request of the University.  Students who wish to make changes for other reasons will be permitted to do so as class limits permit.  At the end of the drop/add period, student schedules are set for the term.

Course Delivery

Course delivery is based upon course content, course demand, and/or program:

·       Campus:  Courses scheduled with specific day(s) and time(s) in a classroom with an instructor.

·       Remote:

o   Course internships, independent study, and study abroad scheduled as TBA (To Be Announced) by the instructor.

o   Courses schedule with specific day(s) and time(s) via livestream with an instructor.

·       Online:  Courses delivered online with structured deadlines over specified consecutive weeks with an instructor. Courses are offered online in 7- to 8- week or for an entire term or summer.

The number of courses a student desires to take in a term based upon the course delivery options, determines which StudentCentral Registration interface is used.  See Registration Based Upon Course Delivery below.
